History

  • Don Haley is currently a College Professor at Tidewater Community College and the Director of The Administration of Justice Program.
  • Professor Haley also teaches an adjunct faculty member Virginia Wesleyan College in their Criminology Department.
  • Haley graduated number one in the Chesapeake, State Mandated DCJS Certified, Police Academy.
  • While with the Virginia Beach Police Department, Don Haley received the Fourth Precinct Detective of the Year Award in 1995 and two Class Act Awards.
  • While with the Chesapeake Police Department, Don Haley received the Chamber of Commerce Award, Drug Enforcement Incentive Award, and two Star Performer Awards.
  • Professor Haley has extensive knowledge in the field of corrections with his completion of the Virginia Basic Correctional Officers training academy, Virginia Jailors School Academy, Civil Process and Court Security Academy.   While working at Saint Brides Correctional Institution, Don Haley received a letter of commendation for stopping the escape of a state prison inmate
  • Don’s passion for law enforcement sparked an interest in working with children, which lead him to begin coaching Youth football. In 1995, Professor Haley was the head coach that won 8 state titles and took third in the Nation for the Virginia Beach Mustangs Football Organization, Division 1. The Mustangs are in the Pop Warner Football Association.
  • Don Haley proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
  • Professor Haley has lectured at police and sheriff’s departments throughout the country on various law enforcement topics from leadership to conflict resolution.
  • Don was the president and owner of a contracting company, D.V. Haley Inc., for 4 years.
  • Was an amateur and professional boxer and trainer. Don is also trained in numerous mixed martial arts.
